It’s officially Thanksgiving Day, and hopefully you’re reading this while stuffing your face guilt free, because turkey. And pumpkin pie. But besides the cornucopia of deliciousness that is currently occupying your dining table, there are a few things we’re pretty grateful for this year. 2015 has definitely been tumultuous, but let’s look back on the highlights in pop culture that made us laugh, cry, and unite the world over.

This is obviously a biggie. After a lengthy hiatus, Adele has finally returned to our playlists with her new album, 25, and it’s safe to say that people pretty much freaked the hell out. Kate Hudson, along with other celebrities, broke down in tears, and we joined in cheek-soaked camaraderie.
2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

We all have Katniss envy. The beautifully braided hair, the drama, the badassery… We could go on, but the point is we finally have some closure with the 76th Hunger Games showing the thrills of the uprising. And have you seen Jennifer Lawrence all blond and berry lipped for the promotional tour? She’s just too gorgeous.
3. Amy Schumer

2015 gave us the gift of Amy Schumer. Well, technically her parents … thank you Mr and Mrs Schumer, but let’s not get sidetracked. Amy has been on the scene for quite some time, but she launched into the world’s consciousness with a speed that left us all shocked at how she could have remained under the radar for so long. And what did she do with her comedic genius? Advocated women’s rights, of course, with her blunt satirical skits and general witty repartee. You go girl!
4. Scream Queens

When the Scream Queens teasers were released, we weren’t too convinced. The sorority-based sitcom is one that we’ve seen repeated at nauseam. Until we watched the first episode, and fell instantly in love. Like, head over heels in love. With the perfect balance of comedy and terror, Scream Queens is in a league of its own. And can we just say that Jamie Lee Curtis is the best thing in this show? Because she totally is.
5. T-Swift 1989

Love her or hate her, you just can’t escape the T-train. At the risk of being hunted down and attacked by raging T-Swift fans: we weren’t exactly fond of her first four albums … but 1989 is a pop masterpiece. And her concerts are the ultimate entertainment experience. We’re officially Taylor Swift converts.
6. Lenny’s Letter

GIRLS is like the Sex and the City of our generation. Lena Dunham is a fearless female, and just when you thought GIRLS was enough of a contribution to our lives, Lenny’s Letter came along. If you haven’t signed up to the emailer list, you should probably make some time after you’ve wiped the cranberry sauce off your chin. Lenny’s Letter covers politics, work, lifestyle and more, and relies on an array of writers and contributors that value the female voice. It’s inspirational, motivational, informative and hilarious, too good not have delivered into your inbox once a week.
7. Caitlyn Jenner

When the news broke that Bruce Jenner was now Caitlyn, the internet erupted in debate. And with the success of Transparent racking up a fair amount of Emmys, and a Golden Globe, the topic of being transgender, and the implications thereof, were finally too hard to ignore. We might not have all agreed on a lot of what was brought to light, but at least it’s a small step in the right direction. And we’re all about progress.
8. Magic Mike XXL

Hmm…. cough… we’re just going to leave you to look at this for a while. We think this might be self explanatory.
9. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

We all know you’ve pre-booked your tickets, just biding your time till the 18th arrives and the fate of the Star Wars franchise is finally revealed. You’ve tried to occupy yourself, or trick yourself, rather, into forgetting about it. Until you fall into a fitful sleep, punctuated by light sabers and a wookie’s battle cry. To be continued….
10. The world uniting against adversity

The attacks on Paris, Beruit, Baghdad, and other countries are tragedies that cannot be adequately expressed within the confines of this article. But what we’re truly grateful for the most, out of this whole list, is when the world over united in support of those affected by unspeakable tragedies. It’s an inexplicable comfort to know that we as humanity, in a world so fragmented, but yet so connected, can still rally against the injustices and atrocities committed by a select few. Now isn’t that something to be grateful for?
