Reese Witherspoon Debuts New Fashion Line

If you’ve seen Sweet Home Alabama, you’ll immediately associate Reese Witherspoon with sweet southern charm. Witherspoon does originally hail from Nashville, Tennessee, so it comes as no surprise that the first fashion line she has started is based on southern values, called Draper James, which just so happens to be super chic with a modern twist. My grandparents taught me everything I know about gracious Southern living. From them I learned to dress and act like a lady, to take pride in my home, to reach out to help a neighbor, and to always invite everyone in for a…

A Young Betty White Rocks the Nautical Look

Betty White is a real dime, and one talented lady who’s been around for the better part of a century. We first fell in love with her as the ditzy Rose from The Golden Girls, amongst a mountain of other things, she’s won (a whopping) seven Emmys and was one of the oldest people to host SNL. This photograph was taken in 1957, where the beautiful Betty works the seaside style so well. She’s wearing a cable knit sweater and her hair is swept away from her face with a classic hair scarf. Betty’s make up is minimal with a strong lip and we’re pretty sure she’s wearing a strong sunblock too. That skin at 93?! Rachel Antonoff, Lena Dunham & Other Stories

Lena Dunham has directed a short film for friend and designer, Rachel Antonoff’s new collection in collaboration with H&M owned label, & Other Stories. The collection will be on sale 12 May, but until then, the campaign is championing gender equality, while still managing to retain a feminine touch. Vote Audrey, directed by Lena Dunham. The collection is a mix of a-line skirts, geometric prints, maxi dresses and leather in a variety of pastel shades. There’s even a shirt and sweater with “It’s time” on it, and “We try harder” driving the point of the collection’s gender equality motif. “I love the idea of a driven, smart girl running for an unknown office, and I created a collection around the different aspects of her day to day life on the trail,” says Antonoff in & Other Stories “The Story”. Ugg Has Crossed Over To The Darkside

Being a Dark Lord of the Sith requires a lot of footwork. And while there are countless disposable stormtroopers moseying about, we’re sure Darth Vader might have had an easier time if he had some comfy footwear. Kind of like Ugg’s limited edition Darth Vader-inspired designs released on 4 May. Click on the image to share on Piccing. It’s an exciting time (or tumultuous – depending on what side of the fan fence you’re on) for access to our childhood obsessions via acceptable, and fashionable items for us, rather mature, fanboys and fangirls. And with the release date of Stars Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens looming, there’s no better time to invest. Ugg’s limited edition collection is also just a teaser of more to come. There will be a couple of other collections released throughout the year based on other infamous characters (we’re personally rooting for Boba Fett or…

SS15 Trend: That Seventies Show

Most seasons we see a dominant decade influencing the runways —and this year it’s the stylish seventies. In a fast paced modern day world the seventies trend offers a nostalgic look at a simpler time. Spring/Summer 2015 has fashion house heavyweights such as Gucci, Chloe, Louis Vuitton and Anna Sui – turning to the 1970s for all kinds of inspiration this season. “We’re living in a generation and a moment in fashion where you see a lot of nostalgia,” says designer Jonathan Anderson, “and that’s because, fundamentally, we are living in a moment where no one knows where they are going and everyone is trying to work out whether they fit.” This season’s significant nod to the 70s is much more subtle and minimalistic in its approach compared to the original aesthetic. So don’t dust off your mom’s bell bottoms just yet. This latest retro revival is more about subtle nuances…

SS15 Trend: Fresh Florals

“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” You might remember Miranda Priestly’s classic one-liner from The Devil Wears Prada that sums up the feeling about the ever-present floral ‘trend.’  Colourful blossoms have been bouncing up and down the runway year after year. However, this season sees a rather fresh approach when it comes to the reinvention of floral. A few designers steered away from soft and sweet florals but rather bloomed with a bolder and stronger look with a slightly wilder more exotic feel. This season sees some designers focusing on femininity, while others added a masculine twist with blazers and tailored trousers. The scale differs across designers with some shows featuring head-to-toe florals, while others incorporate this trend more subtly with accessories such as floral head pieces and handbags.
